After years working in fashion, I learned that the very best accessories do more than look good. They serve a purpose beautifully.
Years later, when crystal singing bowls came into my life, that philosophy came with me.
From Fashion to Frequency
My journey with Sound Healing began more than a decade ago, when I was introduced to it at an intimate gathering at the home of Singing Bowl Master Jeralyn Glass.
I was captivated.
Several years later, I attended a crystal bowl concert in an old church in Los Angeles. The sound of more than a dozen Alchemy bowls reverberating through that space, and through me, was unforgettable.
Then the concert ended.
I watched the practitioner begin packing these extraordinary instruments away, wrapping each beautiful bowl in plastic bubble wrap.
My fashion brain immediately had questions.
These exquisite instruments, infused with gemstones, minerals and metals, capable of filling an entire church with sound, and bubble wrap was the best we could do?
It was a little like seeing a couture gown leave the atelier in a plastic grocery bag.
There had to be something better.
That moment, along with my dear friend and award winning knitwear designer Suss Cousins, began the exploration that would eventually become Harmonic Life.

Fashion taught me to look closely at materials, construction, proportion and function.
Sound practitioners are not carrying ordinary objects. A collection of crystal, gemstone, Alchemy or Tibetan bowls can represent years of careful collecting and a considerable investment, not to mention the relationship a practitioner develops with each instrument.

Perhaps that is the thread connecting my years in fashion to my life today.
I still care about fabric.
I still care about construction.
I still believe beautiful things should function beautifully.
I have simply traded dressing people for dressing singing bowls.
And I have to say, the bowls are delightful clients.
